Did you know that the average American spends six months of his or her life waiting for red lights to turn green? Six months wasted, waiting for permission to move on. Think of all the other stuff you could do with that time.”
I was totally confused. “In the car?”
“In your life,” he said.

30-Day Character Challenge

outlinedsilver:

Day Seven: the Hottest Character

Alright. Had to think a lot about what to choose.

Marcus Flutie - The Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty

I swear to whatever divine force in the universe that I believe in, he’ll remain the hottest, most swoon-worthy fictional character for me ever.

Let’s get one thing straight - I have not yet completed the 3rd, 4th and 5th book in the series; I started 3rd, didn’t like it much, and I have read reviews and know spoilers, and..let’s just say that I never really got encouraged to finish the last three. If I do go back and read them (which I will, but I don’t know when), it would probably be for him ad him alone.

“Most people talk when they have nothing to say. I’€™m not talking because I have too much to say. None of which I’d want you to hear.”

Marcus Flutie for life forever.

I confess, yes, our Fall was all my fault

If you kissed my eyes, your lips would taste salt

But you think my regret is a lie, and the tears I cry

Are the crocodile kind.”

“I won’t narc on you, cuz.”

You must be a long phase for me, Marcus Flutie.”
“The longest, Jessica Darling,” he replied.
Yes. Love has the longest arms.

Sloppy firsts

  • Jessica: You once called me sloppy firsts.
  • Marcus: What?!
  • Jessica: You did.
  • Marcus: That's offensive. And it doesn't even make sense. I mean, I've heard of sloppy seconds, but sloppy firsts? I guess I didn't know what to say to you, so I just said something stupid to fill the void. Something like Blame Byron! ... Sloppy firsts. What does that even mean?
  • Jessica: I don't know, either, and I've been spending the last ten years trying to figure it out.

In other words, Marcus, we were perfect in our imperfection.

Part III: Enduring (Putting Up With)

ninghil:

(A snippet from Perfect Fifths by Megan McCafferty; She owns the rights to this.)

XII. He writes

I like the way you

Fingertip-tap the paper

To count syllables

XIII. She writes

I like the way you

Silently lip-sync the words

To count syllables

XIV. He writes

So you’ve noticed, then

(I wonder what else you see

When you look at me)

XV. She writes

How about those Mets?

(Only what my heart can take)

How about those Mets?
