Jessica Darling my favorite literary character of all time!

kriddenkrunk:

I just finished reading Perfect Fifths, the last of the Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty. I first picked up Sloppy Firsts in High School, i’m pretty sure freshman year and instantly fell in love with it’s heroine. Now seven years later the series is over, and I have come to know many more characters who I have loved but I still love Jessica the most.

Friends, if you like to read, I STRONGLY suggest reading: Sloppy Firsts, Second Helpings, Charmed Thirds, Fourth Comings, and Perfect Fifths!  If you adore Lizzie Bennett, Holden Caulfield, Mia Thermopolis, Georgia Nicholson, and Charlie as much as I do, then you will love Jessica Darling!

I should probably take her advice and embrace all the negativity instead of letting it swallow me (almost) completely. But. I. Can’t. Not tonight anyway.

Don’t stop doing what you love.

I believe that what we get out of life is what we’ve set ourselves up to get; there’s no such thing as an inconsequential decision. Our destinies are the culmination of all the choices we’ve made along the way, which is why it’s imperative to listen hard to your inner voice when it speaks up. Don’t let anyone else’s noise drown it out.

I’ll bet that my post-college preoccupations aren’t totally dissimilar to your own as you navigate this strange, semi-autonomous period, when you’re technically on your own but in no way feel like you qualify as as an adult; when you discover that what you thought would make you happy doesn’t and what you thought you wanted isn’t what you want at all. When you’re afraid that every wrong decision you make now is setting you up for decades of regret. When you not only don’t know who you are anymore but wonder if you ever did…. Like many of my friends, I felt firmly entrenched in the life had chosen by the time I hit my mid-twenties. After all I had been working for almost three years. To do something as drastic as quitting would mean starting all over again from zero. Instead of seeing freedom in a fresh start, I rejected it as an unacceptable acknowledgment of defeat. I felt trapped and totally out of control.

Girls will get together just to get together. Guys need an activity as an excuse. Otherwise it’s too homo for them to handle.
